This time of the year it is hard to remember to eat healthy, and even harder to stay fit. With all the shopping, parties and family visiting eating healthy can be a real challenge. But if you pay attention to when and what you are eating you may be able to stay fit through the holidays.
Start the day off right by eating a healthy protein filled breakfast, you are more likely to eat well throughout the day and snack less on junk food.
When you have the mid-morning munchies, go with portion controlled snack like a cup of yogurt or cheese stick instead of a donut or muffin.
Avoid fast food lunches. They tend be high in fat and calories but low in nutrition. Try packing your own lunch, you will save money and making the choice of what to eat with your head not your stomach.
And then it’s time for the mid-afternoon snack. Now you may be tempted to skip being smart on this one but folks, if you are going to a cocktail party in the early evening you need something in your stomach so that first glass of wine doesn’t hit too hard.
Finally, drink water, staying hydrated is so important for your health. It increases your metabolism, helps regulate your body’s temperature and helps give you healthy skin.
This is the most wonderful time of the year and it is easier to enjoy when you are healthy. So, have a great holiday season, and remember to eat healthy during the holidays after all It’s almost time to make your New Year’s resolutions.
